One of the interesting parts of my job is that there is no typical day, as such. It varies from day to day with no prescribed routine. My days can be broadly broken into reviewing and assessing new investment opportunities, helping manage and execute deals we have in exclusivity, and assisting and monitoring current portfolio companies.
Having come from a financial due diligence background and worked with various management teams for short periods of time, the opportunity in private equity to work alongside these interesting, ambitious management teams over an extended period of time really appealed to me. Getting the opportunity to help and support them achieve their strategic vision is really exciting. I also get the opportunity to not just understand the financial side of the business but also the bigger picture looking at strategy, commercial and macro-environment considerations.
Having grown up beside the sea in a rural area, I would have to say the outdoors, family & friends, books, golf (although depends on the day!) and music.
