Standard Control Systems is a leading provider of Building Energy Management Systems (“BEMS”), a computer-based system that controls and monitors a building’s mechanical and electrical equipment such as air handling and cooling plant systems, lighting, power, fire and security systems.
The deal
SCS was founded in 1984 and has built its reputation as an established supplier of BEMS solutions in Ireland and internationally. SCS is headquartered in Dublin, is led by Linda Healy (MD) and employs c.70 people. SCS’ services include engineering, supply and commissioning of control panels, controllers, bespoke GUI mimics and software programming. SCS works closely with clients to minimise energy usage within buildings such as data centres, pharmaceutical facilities, hospitals and commercial buildings. The Company has partnered with a number of trusted suppliers and technologies including Honeywell, Trend, Tridium, Distech, Allen Bradley and Cylon & Janitza.
SCS was looking for a partner with experience of working with, and helping to grow, dynamic scaling businesses. MML Ireland’s track record in providing the guidance and professionalisation required to expand internationally was a key differentiator. MML Ireland invested alongside the existing management shareholders and created a significant equity incentive pot for the management team, ensuring the appropriate capital structure is in place to support SCS’s ambitious growth plan.
