Virginia International Logistics is a leading transport and logistics business focussed on inbound and outbound transport to and from Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, outsourced stock handling and ancillary logistics services such as customs clearance.
The deal
Over the past 40 years, Virginia has grown to be a leading international logistics business across Ireland, the UK and Europe. The Company has longstanding relationships with leading blue-chip customers across the food & beverage, industrial and manufacturing markets. Virginia operates a best-in-class fleet of over 130 trucks, 400 trailers in conjunction with a 50,000 square foot warehouse facility in Kells, County Meath. Virginia was looking for a partner to support its ambitious growth plans in the logistics market, both organically and through acquisitions. MML Ireland invested alongside MD Ray Cole, Operations Directors, Shane Cole and existing shareholders, all of whom reinvested materially, giving MML Ireland a significant minority stake in the business. MML Ireland’s investment created a significant equity incentive pot for the management team and helped ensure the appropriate capital structure and funding for further organic and acquisitive expansion.
