The business

NWP is the leading recycler of organic material on the island of Ireland, creating organic compost from incoming materials.

The deal

NWP manages more than 250,000 tonnes of organics annually, producing high-quality, peat-free organic compost with significant benefits for soil health and carbon sequestration. The CEO, Colm Warren, and the NWP management team are passionate about the business and have a proven track record of delivering strong growth.

As part of the transaction, MML Ireland, alongside co-investor 57 Stars, made a c.£20m investment into NWP.  The deal sees MML Ireland as the largest single equity holder and represents a significant investment in the business alongside the current management team, led by Colm, with all other existing shareholders exiting the business. MML Ireland and 57 Stars have partnered with Colm and management to help grow and expand the business. The investment includes a substantial amount of growth capital that will help accelerate the expansion, growing the current facilities on site to increase processing capabilities and to further the development of the retail compost opportunity.
